A Hundred Thousand For Hannah Write-A-Thon

A few of my favorite Fan Fiction authors have gotten involved in helping to raise money for a truly important cause. The authors taking part are Addicted2Twylyte, Cullen818, Jasper's Darlin' KathySparabella and Jasper'sPrincess213. You can go to their FF pages by clicking on their names.

Their goal is to write 100,000 words throughout the month of December. In exchange, they are asking that you sponsor them in their Write-A-Thon to benefit Hannah’s Hope for GAN. Their goal is to raise $10,000. This will be matched by Ms. Doris Buffet’s Sunshine Ladies Foundation (Ms. Buffet is Warren Buffet’s sister). If 1000 of their readers donate $10 each, they will meet their goal. Of course, a donation of any amount is much appreciated.

The following is excerpted from Chapter 8 of The Sound of Love by Addicted2Twylyte and explains this charity.

In the following excerpt, Jack is Bella’s brother (think Justin Timberlake). Drew Seely is a real person, and he actually did do a benefit concert for Hannah’s Hope and lists it as one of his favorite charities on his web site. Everything written in this excerpt about Hannah, her parents and GAN is true. Hannah is the cousin of the author, Addicted2Twylyte.

Just prior to this excerpt, the hero, Rob, has asked the heroine, Bella, to marry him. He asked her in front of 75,000 fans at a Dave Matthews concert. Prior to asking her, he and Dave sang a song that Rob wrote. After the concert, Rob explains to Bella:

I signed over all the royalties to you, by the way. It’s your song.”

“Thank you, sweetheart.” I had a thought. “I know exactly what to do with the income! Jack is friends with Drew Seeley – he’s the guy who stepped in for Zac Ephron during the High School Musical live tour when Zac had a conflict. Drew did a benefit for Hannah’s Hope Fund. Hannah is a little girl with a very rare disease called Giant Axonal Neuropathy – GAN for short. GAN is a rare genetic disorder that slowly takes away one's ability to walk, use one's hands, speak or swallow and is terminal usually by the time these beautiful children reach their twenties. The disease is so rare, there was no research or support going on when Hannah’s parents found out she had it. Of course, they were utterly devastated at first, but then decided that Hannah was going to be the first person to beat the disease. Drew said Hannah is absolutely precious, and he asked Jack to help.”

Please head on over to Hannah's Hope Fund ( http://www.hannahshopefund.org/ ) and donate to this very important cause. On the site, you can make a donation via PayPal. If you decide to sponsor them, please be sure to type 'FANFICTION,' in the 'Purpose' box when you are on the Hannah's Hope PayPal page. If you forget, please send a message to one of the authors, so they can keep track of how close they are to meeting their goal. They will keep you updated. Donations are being accepted beginning December 1, 2009 at 6pm.

Thank you for “Giving What You Can to Cure GAN!”

I May Not Be American, But I'm Still Thankful

Well, today is Thanksgiving Day in America & even though we don't celebrate it here in South Africa, that doesn't mean I'm not thankful for so many things. Oddly enough, one of the ladies in my office asked me this afternoon when Thanksgiving was in America. I told her that I thought it was today & we got into a discussion about what a lovely idea for a holiday it is & how it's such a pity that we don't having anything like it here. We agreed that EVERYONE should take the time to give thanks, even if there isn't a specific holiday for it. So there & then, I got my idea for today's post.

Obviously I'm thankful for my family & friends & all those great things, but that's not what this post is about. This is a Twilight-type blog, after all. I am thankful for all the wonderful people I have "met" through my enjoyment of Twilight Fan Fiction, especially the lovely Stephanie (cullen818), since I wouldn't even be involved in any of this, if it wasn't for her & her exceptional stories. I am thankful for Stephenie Meyer, since she decided to put her dream to paper & all these wonderful characters originated in her mind. I am thankful for the deliciousness that is Jackson Rathbone & his portrayal of the hugely under-appreciated Jasper Whitlock Hale (I wouldn't know who he was if he didn't get that part & that would be a travesty). I am SO grateful for Fan Fiction & the marvelous ladies who write Jasper stories, since the original books & movies did him a major (excuse the pun) disservice. I am thankful for the fact that there are people who actually like my little blog & take the time to come & look at it. It makes me ridiculously happy every time I get a comment on a post or a new follower. =P Totes makes my day! And I am REALLY thankful for my internet connection, that allows me to do all of this from the other side of the world. Without it, I would be lost. And I am thankful that I FINALLY get to see New Moon tomorrow, since it is officially opening here in SA. YAY ME!

As if all of that wasn't enough, 100 Monkeys have released another video on YouTube. The song is called Sleeping Giants & it is awesome! Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating it. May you have a blessed day.

100 Monkeys Sound Compared To The Doors - Really?

So I've been having some trouble deciding on my next blog post, after all the excitement of last week. Especially considering our boy Jackson has barely done any press for New Moon. Do you have any idea how lucky we were to get those pics of him at the Premiere last Monday? Because, besides those pics & the few interviews on YouTube, there has been sweet f*ck-all. How sad! So in my ponderings of what to do next, I googled Jackson Rathbone & found this interview I hadn't seen before. Click here to read the rest of the article. What caught my attention, though, was this quote from Jackson :
When you look at our songs, we sing kind of more blues-oriented songs. We idolize bands like The Doors and The Rolling Stones. Our sound is often compared to The Doors and Tom Waits and Coldplay. We hope our music is acceptable, but we play music that we love, we really do. And because we play music that we love, we find that other people like our music, too.
Now I enjoy their music as much as the next person - I think it's fun & quirky & interesting. They are all very talented & really good at what they do. But compared to The Doors... really? REALLY?! I remember thinking, while I was watching the Ugly Girl video, that I heard what sounded like a Moog synthesizer in the background & I went "Hey, they're using a Moog, just like The Doors! Nice!" I know other bands have used that sound, too, but I always associate it with The Doors, because I love them. =P  I can honestly say that, after listening to a lot of 100 Monkeys songs, I did not make the connection. Their sound is unique in & of itself, but it certainly ain't The Doors quality. Sorry. I still loves you, 100 Monkeys, but no, I don't see it... or hear it, as the case may be. And so, just because I can, I present you with some of my favorite songs by The Doors...
I f*cking ADORE this song!

 Beautiful...

Magnificently epic...

Hope you enjoyed The Doors as much as I do! If you didn't listen to them all, what are you waiting for? ;)

A Rhyme That Prompted A Post That Got Carried Away

So I will start this post by saying that, every time I hear the song Keep Awake by 100 Monkeys & I hear them rhyming the words Kitchen & Itchin', it reminds me of the first time I heard those two words rhymed together in a song. The song is Some Might Say by the truly great Oasis. So, in another totally self-indulgent moment, I'm going to post that anthem of a song here. When I searched for it on YouTube, I found the live version from a live CD that I have of theirs. So, natch, I was like "Maine Road, Manchester, 1996 - the greatest concert EVER by ANYONE!" Did I mention that I ADORE Oasis? I even still have the Maine Road concert on video. Oasis' music & Noel Gallagher's lyrics speak to my soul. Always have, always will. Then I thought, how can I only post Some Might Say? What about The Masterplan? Or Round Are Way? So, now I present the complete fuckawesomeness that is Oasis at the height of their career... Mancunian swagger in all it's glory!

Wait, what's this blog about again? Oh right, Jackson Rathbone...

There... I did my bit... ;)

That Eyebrow Has A Life Of It's Own

Now you all know that I loves me some Jackson, right? I watched this video & loved it! The smile, the dimples, the eyes, the voice, that accent, the 'burns (OK, maybe not those so much) - I drooled over it all. Then gradually I found myself becoming slightly distracted. It seems I have developed a fascination with his left eyebrow. Watch the video again & keep an eye on the rogue eyebrow. I don't think I've ever seen such an expressive, mobile eyebrow before (note I say "eyebrow" in the singular, because only the one moves). It seems as if it wants to do it's own interview. I think that eyebrow could hold a whole conversation by itself. I wonder if it practices in the mirror? Perhaps we should name it. Any ideas? LOL! OK, enough about the eyebrow - I would hate to hurt it's feelings. It's a lovely eyebrow! Watch at 0:31 in the video when Jackson says, "There's always a few hours in the night." - He can be grateful that it wasn't me doing that interview, because I totes would have jumped on him! SO effing hawt!  *I.AM.DIED*

Only 19 seconds long & AGAIN the eyebrow tries to steal the show. Then something happens (I won't spoil it for you) & I got such a fright, I nearly fell out of my chair. Needless to say, I won't be leaning forward while watching the screen again. LOL!

Mouth Porn alert at 0:29... *thud*

Nice close-ups on this one. Me thinks the eyebrow wasn't pleased here, since most of it's antics got cut off. :(

Fictionista Workshop

I received an e-mail from Fictionista Workshop & I just had to share it with all of you. I think what they are doing is WONDERFUL & SO needed. Please have a read through what they have to say & contact them if you want to feature them on your blogs, too. Their website is http://www.fictionistaworkshop.com/ . Right now, they only have their introductory post up, but when they launch, they will be issuing a call for applicants that are writers, editors and contributors to apply for participation in the workshop experience.

Greetings,

I am contacting you on behalf of Fictionista Workshop, a burgeoning writers workshop for creative original fiction. A thriving, supportive community of writers, editors, and readers.

Women who enjoy the online writing and reading communities are eager for creative opportunities in which they can interact with others, for a variety of reasons. Writing can be a lonely process, whether done in private or with others; having a ready pool of other writers, editors, and readers available for immediate discussion and feedback when needed can be extraordinarily helpful.

We believe there is a true need for education, development, and resources that transcend the unfortunate and inaccurate stigma often given to the fanfiction genre and enable writers to move into the writing process with confidence based on their education and experience.

Fictionista Workshop desires to affiliate with community leaders and organizations that house creative fanfiction from all aspects of the Twilight community. We have many members that enjoy your community and were referred to you by one of your blog followers. As part of our fiction production and love for writing, this includes our love for Jasper fanfiction! We look forward to many authors from the fanfiction side of our workshop to focus on Jasper Whitlock Hale and are requesting your affiliation. Thank you kindly for your consideration. If there are any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us. Either way, thank you for operating an outstanding quality community for Twilight fanfiction community writers and readers.

Sincerely,

Fictionista Workshop Administrators

Please go support them - they are doing fantastic work! Thanks!

His Name Is Jackson Rathbone But You Can Call Him Sex-On-Legs

Well, as we all know by now, last night was the New Moon Premiere in LA. And did our boy look FINE or what?! In fact, the very first thing I thought when I saw this picture was "Hello, Sex-On-Legs!" Holy hell! *thud*

Then there were the rest of the pics, some of which actually made me SQUEE out loud! It's not my fault, it's that damn smile! It's just so... ungh! It melts me everytime! *sigh*

And in case anyone was wondering, I still think he's hot, even with those growths on the sides of his head! I've heard of sideburns, but hell's teeth, that's odd! It's like lamb-chops, but not.  =P  He's a quirky one, our boy Jackson. It's part of his charm & I love him for it! ;)

And here's some with Ashley Greene & Kellan Lutz

As always, click to enlarge. All pics found on Jackson Rathbone Online .
